Student Data & COPPA Notice
Last updated October 27, 2026 · Effective October 31, 2026
Scholar, provided by theveteraneducators AI LLC (Nyclogic AI™), uses code-only student access at all ages. Students join with a class code and nickname — no email, no real names on our servers.
Student data
- Numbered label, hashed device token and hashed recovery code.
- Submitted answers, CER writing and questions about completed items.
- Nicknames stay on student devices. Names and optional contacts in a teacher roster key stay encrypted on that teacher’s computer.
Children under 13 and school authority
No student account or birthday is requested. Teachers may issue a numbered label and printed recovery code. The school must establish lawful educational authority and applicable parental/school consent before use. Your school or district decides how that consent is collected.
FERPA and NY Education Law §2-d
Schools must execute appropriate terms, complete the district privacy agreement and parents’ rights information, and determine educational use and records-retention obligations. This notice does not assert compliance or school-official status without signed terms.
Access and deletion
For access or deletion, contact your teacher or your school or district, or email privacy@nyclogicai.com. Signed-in teachers can also reach us in the app: open Scholar Assistant and choose “Something's wrong”. Step-by-step instructions are on Delete your account or data. Student deletion removes submitted work. Class/account deletion allows 7 days to undo; archived work is deleted after 12 months by default. Teachers can export class data and delete after free access ends.
Our commitments
- No sale of student data or student advertising.
- Detected identifiers filtered before AI (Anthropic). Anthropic’s handling of API data is governed by its commercial terms.
- No roster contacts held by Scholar; email drafts open in the teacher’s own mail service.
